Love you!

Lex smiled, feeling deep contentment, and went on reading his book for five minutes before it slowly dawned on him that the words hadn't been spoken aloud.

He looked over at Connor, who was wide-awake in his crib, smiling, kicking his legs with great enthusiasm.

Lex sat in the large rocking chair Clark had chosen for the nursery gently rocking Connor after his two a.m. feeding. Conner was kicking his pajama clad feet happily.

"You should be asleep young man. We have a busy schedule in the morning. Your mama has a meeting with his publisher and we are spending the morning dazzling my staff at LexCorp with our brilliance."

Conner screwed up his face, but he didn't cry.Read more... )

All that was missing, Chloe thought, were the cameras and a director to yell "Action!" and she was sure that Roland had cameras hidden somewhere in the small private "clinic" where she was "having Clark's baby." Considering how real everything looked, Lex must have given Roland a blank check.

"Would you please stop pacing? I'm getting dizzy." Chloe complained to Wally who was moving rather rapidly back and forth across the room talking on his JLU communicator.

"Sorry," he shrugged and sat down in the chair by her side trying to avoid all of the special equipment. "Clark and Lex's plane just touched down at the airport."

Chloe grimaced. She shifted on the bed, trying to get comfortable with the weight of the massive special effect molded to her body.

"What's wrong?" Wally frowned.Read more... )

Martha Kent and Helga Harding arrived at The Fortress via the Kyptonian transporter some 20 minutes after Connor's birth. By then, clean and exhausted, Clark was tucked up in his and Lex's big bed. Connor slept soundly on his chest - still wrapped in his grandmother's yellow receiving blanket.

While Helga marched off to configure living quarters for herself and Martha, grandmother met grandson for the first time. "Oh my, he's gorgeous," she ran a gentle finger down Connor's cheek, "and so much hair!"

"His eyes are going to be blue," Lex offered, feeling fatuous and not caring in the slightest, "like mine. He's got Clark's good looks, though."

"He will look like both of us," Clark said sleepily. "I'm so glad you're here, Mom. The AI said you got held up by a chipmunk and some exploding strudel?"

"I thought," Lex's teeth were gritted, "that the field you're generating made Clark's strength earth normal?"

"Sorry," Clark gasped, as another contraction tore through him, "it's hurting more than I thought...possible..."

"Can't you give him something for the pain?" Lex demanded.

"Not without unduly risking the well-being of your son. Kryptonian male labor is always a protracted process, he-who-is-Kal-El's-mate. We thought we explained that in a manner even your limited earth intelligence could comprehend."

"You did. I just didn't think protracted meant Clark going through more than 10 hours of contractions!"

Clark groaned. "I am never doing this again. Just so you know, Lex. In fact, I may never...FRELLING HELL!!!...have sex...ever...again!"

Lois couldn't stop thinking about the confrontation she'd had with Lex, Clark and his German henchwoman in Smallville, even as she tried to shop for the basic necessities. She pushed the grocery cart around the store in auto-pilot mode

Now that she was back on the city desk in Metropolis where she belonged, Lois intended to get to the bottom of why Clark Kent had defected to Lex Luthor's camp and what the two of them were plotting in Smallville. She didn't believe their wild story about settling down to start a family for a minute.

She pushed her cart up to the check-out and waited. A photograph of Lex and Clark in one of the tabloids in the impulse buy racks caught her eye.

"Is the Luthor-Kent marriage in trouble? Is Clark's old flame having his love child?" read the lurid headline.

Lex was fascinated by the way that he or Clark had only to request something be added or subtracted from the Fortress, and the AI made it so.

In their private rooms, aside from their bed, which Clark decided should be both longer and wider than the one at home in Metropolis, Clark deferred to Lex's choices in how it was decorated. Lex thought he'd actually suprised Clark, when he'd gotten the AI to produce comfortable, even luxurious fabrics, but kept the basic rooms very simple. Their Fortress rooms were, in fact, nearly an exact copy of their suite at the Kent Farm.

"I like the fireplace you added," Clark commented one evening, "it makes everything seem warmer. I know it really isn't cold in the Fortress, but it always used to seem that way."

Lex made a mental note to have fireplaces added to their bedrooms in Metropolis and Smallville.

Take Chloe up on "Surrogacy"

"What are you doing?" Clark tried to peer over Lex's shoulder at the list he was making.

"You are supposed to be resting." Lex pulled the notebook away from Clark. One advantage of being in the Fortress for Clark's third phase was the simulated red solar radiation in their suite. It leveled the playing field a bit.Read more... )

Last time on the story: "He's lost consciousness, Bruce. We'll need to get him to the AI as quickly as possible." Lex was doing his best to remain calm."

And now, the story continues:
The AI wasn't very happy about any of it.

"We should have vaporized you," it told Lex, "when we had the opportunity."

"Now, just wait a minute," Bruce might be a bit odd about some things, but nobody was getting vaporized on his watch, "that's extremely unfair to Lex and Cla..Kal-El."

"I can still vaporize you, you are not the mated one of Kal-El."

"Look, you overweening bucket of bolts," Bruce was just getting started.

Lex, satisfied that neither Clark nor Connor were in immediate danger, looked up from his stance by the diagnostic bed, and snarled, "Knock it off. Both of you. Bruce, thank you for the ride. AI, stop it."

When we last saw our heroes.......

(reposted from [livejournal.com profile] kyanoswolf's journal)

AI: Transponder Recognized: Justice League Javelin 7

J7: ETA 5 minutes. 3 passengers.

AI: Identify passengers.

J7: Batman, Superman, Lex Luthor.

AI: Landing Clearance Granted.

When the Javelin's computer system signaled that the Fortress' defense barrier had been lowered upon their approach, Bruce took the Javelin into a gentle dive through the bay to underwater entrance to Fortress' hanger bay beneath the ice shelf.

"We're there, Clark." Bruce breathed easier as he shut down the Javelin's systems. He unfastened his harness and turned around "Clark!"

Clark was slumped in Lex's arms.

"He's lost consciousness, Bruce. We'll need to get him to the AI as quickly as possible." Lex was doing his best to remain calm.
